Katia Fuentes was born and raised in Mexico City, where she earned her degree in Communication at UNUM. She studied Photography in Boston at Massachusetts College of Art and has resided in San Francisco since 1998.

Her work has always been focused on a personal scale, with socio-political and cultural underpinnings.

She has been published nationwide by Camera Arts Magazine and numerous local publications in San Francisco. Her work has been broadcast on KRON 4 Latin Eyes and The Matt Gonzalez Show. She worked as a journalist for Univision Noticias 14, El Latino Newspaper and Looksmart.com. She is a member of the artist organization Project Artaud where she lives and shows new work every year during SF Open Studios.
